Strengthened with a wealth of intellectual property generated over the last six decades and being an early adopter of international quality systems & best practices, Elico’s corporate strategy of continual investments in its R&D capabilities has helped retain its dominance in the market. The company’s R&D Lab is certified by the Department of Science & Industrial Research (DSIR), Government of India, since 1973.
The R&D division of the company has been catering to the IP requirements & research needs of global players, as the need for synergistic tie-ups with multinational competitors was perceived. Technology Competencies as well as Talent Capabilities have been reinforced, which has led to the creation of a well-recognized brand, not only within the country, but outside of India as well, in the Analytical Instrumentation Industry.
Currently, Elico’s IP portfolio of almost 100 which include patents, design copyrights of instrument architecture, software copyrights, branded trademarks, contribute directly to the company’s intangible asset base and is able to capture niche markets for the segments of soil nutrient analysis, drinking water quality/sewage water treatment & agri-produce/food testing, etc.
Human capital has been identified very early on, as one of the most important assets for the company. Elico was one of the very few companies that collaborated with Universities & Academic Institutions to offer joint Ph.D. programs and graduate level projects in the Instrumentation discipline. This has ensured that tacit knowledge is embedded in the organization processes & culture.
